“I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ

for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” –Romans 1:16

As we approach this holiday season, let us keep our eyes looking unto Jesus.

This world wants and craves your full attention. It looks to steal your affections and stirs your appetite for things that only our precious Lord can satisfy.

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. Galatians 6:14

When the world throws everything at us, and we begin to feel the Christmas stress, and the tension builds, turn your eyes from the false thrills and endless deals, and look unto Jesus.

Charles Spurgeon once said,

“We shall never find happiness by looking at our prayers, our doings, or our feelings; it is what Jesus is, not what we are, that gives rest to the soul. If we would at once overcome Satan and have peace with God, it must be by ‘looking unto Jesus.”

While many are captivated by the thrilling excitement that Christmas brings, the lights, the singing, the trees, and of course the shopping, we must guard our hearts, and always be looking unto Jesus In everything we do.

To some, the holidays bring gloom, anxiety and depression. To others, the holidays bring hope, and excitement, as a points to the beginnings of a new year.

But we brothers and sisters, must stir up our excitement for the living Christ, who has conquered death, and will soon return for His bride. One Christmas hymn comes to mind, which I am not afraid to sing, and that is ‘O Holy Night.

“A thrill of hope the weary soul rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!

And in His name all oppression shall cease

Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, Let all within us praise His holy Name!”

This must be the chorus of our hearts. At the sound of the holy Name of Jesus, let us feel the rush of excitement, as we anticipate His return. But also let us be reminded of the debt that was paid for our sin. Jesus alone accomplished this task. And is Christ alone who keeps us to the last.

So be reminded, over this holiday season, to rejoice, to shout, to sing, to celebrate the birth of our dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Keep your eyes upon Him, And everything else loses its luster.

Please let me know How I can pray for you. Christ our great God here’s the prayers of His saints!

Let us rejoice,

In Christ
