ONE:16 BIBLE CHURCH FELLOWSHIP is a new fellowship with a two thousand year old foundation. The name flows from the dogmatic declaration of Romans 1:16. This verse contains both the mission statement and the driving conviction of our fellowship. It’s the same mission statement and driving conviction found in the Gospels, on every page of the earliest recorded history of Christ’s Church (see the book of Acts), and in all the N.T. epistles that follow. In brief, our fellowship’s goal is to plant churches, revive churches, reform churches, unite churches, equip churches, and send churches to obey Christ’s Great Commission command in the power of the Spirit, with the same theology and methodology of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Apostles, the early church, and the robust evangelistic, Calvinistic pastors, evangelists, and missionaries of old (e.g. C.H. Spurgeon, George Whitefield, John G. Patton, etc.).

ONE:16 BIBLE CHURCH FELLOWSHIP’S MISSION STATEMENT is to be actively unashamed of the soul saving, life transforming, culture changing Gospel of Jesus Christ for the love and glory of God and the love and salvation of sinners, through faithfully and boldly preaching the Law of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the pulpit and in the open air (Acts 1:8, 4:27-29, 5:27-32, 4:31, 6:7, 11:19-21, 12:24, 19:20). Our mission is to put the “GO” back in “go therefore” (Matt. 28:18-20)! Our mission is to take the Word of God to the highways and byways, wherever perishing sinners are found, confident in the certain knowledge that all those whom the Lord is calling will be granted repentance of sin and faith in Christ (Luke 14:23; 1 Cor. 1:18-25; Acts 11:18, Acts 13:47, 26:18, 28:28; Rom. 10:14-17). Our mission is to love and glorify God through planting and reviving Biblical Great Commission churches with pastors, congregants, evangelists, and missionaries who love God and neighbor by doing the work of an evangelist (2 Tim. 4:5), by dying to self and taking up the cross (Mark 8:34-38), by filling their cities with the doctrine of Christ (Acts 5:28), and by turning the world upside down (Acts 17:6) through the preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ everywhere to everyone!

ONE:16 BIBLE CHURCH FELLOWSHIP’S DRIVING CONVICTION is that the proclamation of the Gospel of Christ is the power of God to salvation! The power of God to salvation is not found in the wisdom, gimmicks, or machinations of man, it’s in the preaching of the Gospel. Jesus Christ was a preacher, He trained and sent forth preachers, and His last and standing command is for His preachers to boldly go forth to the whole world preaching repentance of sin, preaching His Law, preaching His Gospel, turning His world upside-down for His glory through the certain salvation of all those for whom He died (Luke 24:44; Gal. 3:24; Phil. 1:27-30; John 16:8; Acts 17:6; John 6:36-45).

ONE:16 BIBLE CHURCH FELLOWSHIP’S COVENANT COMMITMENT is to declare, define, and defend the Gospel for the glory of God and the salvation of sinners in the pulpit, on the street, outside of abortion clinics, on college campuses, and wherever else Providence leads. We covenant together to unashamedly love and serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through the proclamation of His Law and His Gospel everywhere—filling our cities with the soul saving , life transforming, culture changing Word of God! We stand joyfully united for the furtherance of the Gospel, for mutual encouragement, and for moral and doctrinal accountability, with every local church laboring in Christ’s GREAT COMMISSION work that actively holds to this MISSON STATEMENT, this DRIVING CONVICTION, and the ONE:16 Bible Church Fellowship’s Great Commission infused DOCTRINAL STATEMENT.

“Only let your conduct be worthy of the Gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the Gospel, and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.” -Philippians 1:27-30

The One:16 Bible Church Fellowship believes the Great Commission is every Christian’s mission. It’s not the work of the elite Christian, but the work of every Gospel believing, blood bought, Holy Spirit regenerated and indwelt Christian. It’s not the other Christian’s job to talk to people about the sinfulness of sin, the narrow and difficult path that leads to the glory of Heaven, and the broad and easy path of dead religion (or no religion at all) that leads inevitably to the eternal horror of Hell. The Lord Jesus Christ exhorts and warns every Christian:

“Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” -Mark 8:34-38

The One:16 Bible Church Fellowship believes the Great Commission is every pastor’s mission. It’s not the work of some pastors, elite pastors, or evangelistically minded pastors, but the work of every pastor whom Christ has enlisted as His under-shepherd soldiers to train the church and lead them into spiritual warfare, wielding the Sword of the Spirit for the rescuing of sinners, saying to the church follow me as I follow Christ. It’s not the other pastor’s job or those rare individuals who claim to have the gift of evangelism. The Lord Jesus Christ commands every pastor, in every age, in every culture to “do the work of an evangelist” (2 Tim. 4:5).

The One:16 Bible Church Fellowship believes the Great Commission is every evangelist and missionary’s mission. That might seem like an oddly obvious statement. Tragically, in today’s (Christ-less, Gospel-less, Law-less, Bible-less) hang out at the local donut shop, pizza joint, video game chat room, or local pub and just be cool for Jesus era of evangelism—it’s an essential statement. Sadly, in today’s vacationary era of missions—it’s an essential statement. Much of the church is unashamedly engaged in non-evangelistic evangelism and non-Gospel-proclaiming missions that will never fill a city with the doctrine of Christ or turn the world upside down with the Gospel. The ONE:16 Bible Church Fellowship is committed to unashamedly equipping and sending evangelists and missionaries who preach Christ publicly and house to house (Acts 20:20-27).

 

The One:16 Bible Church Fellowship believes the Great Commission is every church’s mission. It’s not the work of some churches, the historic apostolic church, missionary churches oversees, or local churches that have a particular vision to reach their city or region. It’s the work of every church, in every city, in every region, everywhere. It’s Christ’s final, authoritative, and standing Great Commission command to His universal Church:

“Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” -Matthew 28:18-20

“Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations.” -Luke 24:23

“You shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” -Acts 1:8
